Nutricia Australia Pty Limited is a member company of the Infant Formula Manufacturers' Association of Australia (IFMAA). The aim of this association is to contribute to the provision of safe and adequate nutrition for infants, by the protection and the promotion of breastfeeding and by ensuring the proper use of breastmilk substitutes, when these are necessary, on the basis of adequate information and through appropriate marketing and distribution.
We at Nutricia also voluntarily abide by the Marketing in Australia of Infant Formula Agreement (an interpretation of the WHO Code) that was adopted in 1981 by the World Health Assembly. The Code exists to protect the interests of the mother and baby and to ensure that manufacturers of breastmilk substitutes comply with quality and labelling requirements that first and foremost promote the benefits of breastfeeding.
Furthermore, at Nutricia Australia we have adopted one of the strictest interpretations of the Code in the interest of mother and baby. Where these regulatory guidelines regulate they also strictly dictate what we can and cannot say about breastmilk substitutes.
